Dental Careers Foundation of Indianapolis (DCF) was established in 1993. Since then our program has constantly been improved to reflect the most recent changes in dentistry.

Dental Careers Foundation (DCF) is dedicated to preparing the next generation of dental professionals through hands-on, career focused education. We provide accessible training programs designed to meet the needs of both aspiring and current dental assistants looking to grow in the field.

Our programs emphasize real-world experience, combining practical clinical training with essential academic knowledge to ensure students are fully prepared for the demands of today’s dental environments. From foundational chairside assisting skills to advance radiology training, our curriculum is built to develop competence, confidence, and professionalism.

At the core of our organization is a commitment to student success. We foster a supportive and positive learning environment where students are encouraged to build confidence, take pride in their work, and understand the important role they play in delivering quality patient care.

Highlights of Dental Assisting Program

  • Twelve intensive, all-day training sessions on Saturdays only.
  • All training aids, instruments, necessary books, course syllabus containing notes on all lecture material, and materials for hands-on procedures all provided.
  • All classes are taught in an actual dental office by dental clinicians, using the latest in dental equipment, procedures and audio/visual aids.
  • Receive Certificate of Achievement in Dental Assisting.
  • Assistance in setting up students radiology exam (RHS) is provided and the fee is included with tuition.

DCF is unlike some programs that last 6-12 months, cost many thousands of dollars, and have little “hands-on” training! In twelve weeks, with a focus on practical training and limited expense, DCF students have a solid foundation of skills and are able to successfully enter the dental profession.

Benjamin D. Ahlbrecht, D.D.S. – Director of Clinics

Dr. Ahlbrecht is a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry and runs a successful dental practice on the north side of Indianapolis. He is an instructor in the 10 week dental assisting program and truly enjoys giving future dental assistants excellent guidance during their on-the-job training. Every successful dental office has an excellent dental assistant, and excellent dental assistants have a solid foundation to rely on. At Dental Careers Foundation of Indianapolis, Aimee and Dr. Ahlbrecht strive to provide the best foundation for every dental assistant.

Aimee Cookston – Director of Education

Aimee is a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry Dental Assisting/Expanded Functions program. She has 30 years of dental experience, both chairside and in office management. Aimee’s clinical knowledge has proven to be extremely valuable to our school. She is a real people person that truly cares about our students, she always strives to achieve positive results.

Rich Brown – Instructor

Rich’s dental journey began in 2003 by graduating from Dental Careers Foundation. Rich is one of our instructors at DCF.  He started out as an assistant in cosmetic dentistry for the first 2 years but in 2005 he found Orthodontics and his excitement for teaching. His other passion is education.   

He is always continuing his dental education by taking classes in Hygiene and learning from the Dr’s and Nurse practitioners in Orthodontics, Cleft palate, Expansion, Tongue Tie. He is the Clinical Department head in a successful orthodontic office currently and training and giving career support to his team. Rich has been an Instructor for DCF since 2005. He is well versed in the DCF curriculum, but his specialty is dental radiology. “The more I know the more I can pass on to my students. 

I never stop learning. DCF has been very good for me, giving me the knowledge to start my career dream.” In his off time, Rich joined the Red Cross in Sept 2024. He gives his time to other charities and is always ready for a learning session. He is an avid ceramics painter, awesome game night host, and is controlled by his true love, his dachshund named Orry.

Jeananne

Jeananne is a graduate of DCF and now one of our incredible instructors. With 26 years of experience in dentistry, she brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to our team. She is a lead assistant, Implant and Oral Surgery Coordinator, and EFDA at North Meridian Dental Excellence where DCF is housed.
She values strong teamwork, respectful collaboration, and building long term relationships while making every dental visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.Outside of the office, you can find her hiking, kayaking, biking, gardening, or spending time with her family, dog, and parrot. You will be learning from “The Goat” as our students call her, because of all her amazing techniques, experience, personality, knowledge, and passion for dentistry.

Michelle

Michelle began as a student in 2020 and became a dental assistant right after graduation. Michelle is one of our instructors at DCF. She helps with lectures, clinical work, and mentoring current students.
She supports instructors and shares her experience guiding others through the program. Michelle’s specialty is orthodontics and general cosmetic dentistry. She is our North Meridian Dental Excellence Invisalign Coordinator as well as an EFDA. Michelle loves baking, art, tattooing, and her two children.

Angie

Angie serves as a key member of DCF as the Education Coordinator. She brings extensive experience in student outreach, enrollment strategy, and academic support. With her background in education, enrollment coordinator, virtual teacher, and academic administrator, she is passionate about guiding students through every step of their educational journey.
She understands that choosing the right program is a big decision, and she takes pride in making the process clear, supportive, and stress-free. Angie is dedicated to helping with prospective and current students, providing guidance, encouragement, and honest communication every step of the way.
